the beginning of
nursery or pre-school
to the end of

children learn best
through active play
which builds on
their individual
needs and interests
. Children start by
learning the sounds
of letters and
letter combinations
before they progress
to reading books.
The Foundation Stage: Ages 3-5
Kindergarten
literally means "children's garden" is a form of education
for young children which serves as a transition from home to
the commencement of more formal schooling. Children are
taught to develop basic skills through creative play and
social interaction. In most countries kindergarten is part
of the preschool system. Kindergarten is the word used to
describe the first year of compulsory education. In
British English,
nursery or
playgroup is the
usual term for preschool education. Children usually attend
kindergarten any time between the ages of two and six
depending on the local custom.
In Cambridge Sudan it Covers the years children spend from
the beginning of nursery or pre-school to the end of
reception class in primary school. This is recognised as a
distinct stage of learning, when children learn best through
active play which builds on their individual needs and
interests with concentration in
Phonics.
Phonics teaching is a priority area from age 4. Phonics
